Muldooneys Spring/Summer 2012 // Color Forecasts http://ajanaku.com/muldooneys-springsummer-2012-color-forecasts/ http://ajanaku.com/muldooneys-springsummer-2012-color-forecasts/#comments Wed, 22 Feb 2012 22:09:59 +0000 Charlene Austin http://ajanaku.com/?p=23801 Written by: June Ofori

Colors of spice markets, the sunset in the dessert and the Middle-East…that’s where Muldooneys inspiration comes from when you look at his collection for Spring/Summer 2012.

The colors chosen by Muldoonyes, are also found in major designers from Balenciaga to Oscar De LaRenta. For 2012 the color cerulean blue is replaced with a pastel blue and has a lavender/hyacinth like color with violet tones. Prada and Marc Jacobs are known for bringing these colors back into their collection. Indigo and lime green will also make its’ comeback this year. The very striking color of copper/bronze and metallic are inspired by the Middle-East. These colors can be found in Muldooneys Limited Edition line of handbags and accessories. When I look at Muldooneys collection it’s like I’m traveling through these exotic places like India, South Africa or Kenya…it has energy and aliveness.Taking you through a journey…that’s what has become the essence of Muldooneys.

“Fashion is no longer only about cuts and shapes, it’s now more than ever about colors” ~ Marlene Naicker – Creative Director Muldooneys

Mishka Spring 2012 Lookbook http://ajanaku.com/mishka-spring-2012-lookbook/ http://ajanaku.com/mishka-spring-2012-lookbook/#comments Tue, 21 Feb 2012 21:24:14 +0000 Tifini Kamara http://ajanaku.com/?p=23593

Popular New York City brand Mishka releases its Spring 2012 lookbook featuring up-and-coming artists such as Danny Brown, Das Racist, and Action Bronson. Crewnecks, snapbacks, and jackets are also sported on a whos-who of aspiring musicians such as (but not limited to) Perrion, Children of the Night and DJ Shiftee.

If you’ve spent any time in NYC lately you’ll notice the weather has been quite sporadic and Spring, seemingly, has sprung earlier than usual; to celebrate this (possible) end-of-the-world-weather Mishka treats us to a young and fresh video release.

Primarius // est. 1917 http://ajanaku.com/primarius-est-1917/ http://ajanaku.com/primarius-est-1917/#comments Sun, 19 Feb 2012 21:45:28 +0000 Maurice Ajanaku http://ajanaku.com/?p=23726 Primarius-Artisan-L-HR-main Primarius-Artisan-S-HR-handles Primarius-Artisan-S-HR-front-plate Primarius-Artisan-S-HR-back Primarius-Artisan-L-HR-spokes Primarius-Artisan-L-HR-saddle Primarius-Artisan-L-HR-back-dropout Primarius-Artisan-L-HR-back-plate

Dutch bicycles are celebrated throughout the world and Primarius is one of the brand names that have contributed to this reputation. This bicycle brand – established in 1917 by Jan Otterhof and Jochem de Boer, who were taught the trade at Fongers and Batavus – is one of the classics in bicycle history. They manufactured sturdy, high quality bicycles and mopeds. But because of the shift in demand from “solid and heavy” to “light and sporty”, the brand couldn’t keep up and had to give in, but with its head held high. Even though Primarius wasn’t able to keep up with the ever-evolving market, they did write history with their sturdy, stylish bicycles – made with dedication and true craftsmanship.

That was Primarius at the beginning of the last century. In the meantime Primarius has been taken over by new, younger hands: those of design agency Signiatura. This agency takes the true craftsmanship of yesteryear – with real heart and soul – and combines it with modern design, riding comfort and superb mechanics. The new Primarius is a truly Dutch company, which designs original bicycles, assembled – mostly by hand – in the Netherlands.

Every Primarius Artisan is hand made and therefore unique. Each bicycle has its own serial number, giving it the status of “classic of the future”. The first thing noticeable is its refined arched frame. And those with a good eye for detail will smile when seeing the styled “P” of Primarius in the rear fork. The imperfections prove the work of a true craftsman who will make no compromise on quality. This is also the experience when riding the Artisan: very direct steering and superior handling. The beautiful design continues in the royal blue lacquer where the frame first is hand polished and receives its first basic layer with a fine paintbrush. Then follows a process of sanding and applying layers of lacquer until the top layer can be added as the finishing touch.

The Primarius Artisan is truly stepping up the game when it comes to city bicycles. Bring high level design, craftsmanship, and beauty together.
